My first career was as a science communicator, creating books, articles and videos about science, medicine and technology. But I became so interested in human evolution, I decided to study for a PhD in order to learn more and at a higher level. I received my PhD at the age of 50 in 2002. What I learned and experienced since starting on my PhD has changed my life in many ways and I am now passionate about explaining the latest evidence and ideas on human evolution to everyone who is interested. Understanding our origins (and how we came to be "Us") helps in gaining an understanding of ourselves.
